I couldn’t find baby back ribs. I bought what the store labeled as pork spare ribs; 4lbs. I added the water, coated the ribs with a “low and slow” bbq rub, cut the rack in half and still needed to lay one half on top of the other. Pink salt and fresh ground pepper. Onion and garlic. My schedule dictated 8.5 hours. I figured with the larger ribs and more weight that they’d come out fine.First of all the smell was so amazing I needed to not be in the kitchen the entire time. When it was time to plate, the bottom ribs had the meat off the bone and the upper ribs were very tender. It really made no difference as all of the meat was tender and savory. None of it was dried out. It was enough to feed five hungry people with potato salad and green salad on the side. I’d do this again in a heart beat. I will probably try Zero Sugar Cola next time but I’m not convinced it would be an advantage; we’ll see.
Could have used better everything.
My family loves this recipe, but with some modifications. Instead of using onion and garlic, I used a rib rub on the ribs. Instead of using water, I used Diet Coke (sometimes regular Coke). Great recipe!!
Delicious and easy!I made 2 changes to the the recipe:1. I used Slap Ya Mama as a dry rub2. Cranked the heat to 425 to caramelize the barbecue sauceDon’t cook more than the recommended time! The ribs were outstanding!
First time making ribs this way. Always made them slow in the oven would definitely do it this way in the future.Cooked on high for 3-1/2 hours then finished them off sauced in the air fryer for 8 minutes on 375 Perfect.?
Simple and super savory! I've never made ribs before, so I love it when my first try is a success. Thanks for sharing this recipe, Norah!
Easy and DELICIOUS!!! This is my husband’s most-often requested recipe for ribs! I use bbq sauce and freshly-made mango preserves from our tree.
Delicious! So simple, and great flavour. I especially loved how simple these were to put on in the morning during the rush of getting ready for work/school, and then how lovely the house smelt as I came back home. Plan to make again and again.
Love this! Turned out perfect!
