I can't believe that allrecipies included this recipie. I'm 72 yrs old and a retired Dietary Technician and have been cooking for many years so the minute I tried to mix all the ingredients I saw it was too dry, I cooked it anyway and now I'm going to be throwing out a lot of sugar, flour, eggs etc used in this recipie. Debbie needs some culinary training or is she too young for such a school.
I added 2tableapoons of butter in addition to a 1/2 milk. I had to set the over to 375 and I baked for 1.5
First off when the bread finally did finish it was absolutely tremendous and delicious! After you cook the bread for 45 minutes and then cover it, it does take a lot longer than expected for the middle to finally cook all the way through but it is absolutely 100% worth the wait. For the record, I used two golden apples for this recipe
Way too sweet. Baked for hour and half and still not done.
My mom made this cake. It is meant to be a bit dense. I like to ride that line btwn dessert & breakfast food. So I’m aiming for “not too sweet” Here’s what I did: Cut the sugar down to 1.25c. Used an heaping TBS of cinnamon (or pumpkin pie mix) Added baking soda (1tsp + 1tsp baking powder + 1/2tsp salt. Added 1tsp lemon juice (white vinegar will also work). Last batch I preheated to 375, then turned down to 350 when I put the pan in. Makes it pop up a little higher for those who are looking for more fluff. FYI you can make it with persimmons too. I’m going to try it with squash next.
Too gummy in middle
Yummy just added 1/2 teaspoon more cinnamon!
Delicious! I prefer NOT putting the aluminum foil on top during baking. The delicious crusty top is unbeatable!
So wanted to love this but gummy, dense, and not like any apple brad I have enjoyed.
