1 pound chopped fresh broccoli
1 ½ cups cubed, cooked chicken meat
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of broccoli soup
⅓ cup milk
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons dried bread crumbs
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
Step 2: Place broccoli in a saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain.

I've made this recipe several times. The first time I made it essentially as written except for adding seasonings as recommended in the reviews. It's a great meal for a weeknight. I have also made it by doctoring it up by sauteing onion, celery and garlic in butter, and adding fresh mushrooms to the sauté. I then added 1/2 and 1/2 instead of milk, and one can of each cream of chicken and mushroom to the sautéed onion, celery, garlic and fresh mushrooms. I steamed enough broccoli to cover the bottom of a large casserole dish, sprinkled a layer of shredded rotisserie chicken, and covered that with the sauté mixture. Next, added a few handfuls of cheddar cheese, mixed it well and baked for 20 minutes at 400 degrees covered. I took off the cover, sprinkled French fried onions on top, and baked uncovered an additional 15 minutes. Served it over rice. I've also made it by mixing in a small amount of cooked pasta before adding the French fried onions. So versatile, and easy to dress up or serve causal.

I have made this recipe for years, I learned it in a culinary class in high school however I call it broccoli cheese casserole. I use Velveeta instead of shredded cheddar. I double the amount of cheese and I also use rice. I mix everything including the chicken (if I use it) together --the slightly steamed Broc, cream of mush soup, sour cream, rice and salt n pepper maybe a lil adobo and top it with more Velveeta then the Ritz and butter mixture as opposed to bread crumbs. Bake until golden brown and bon appetit ??
The broccoli was sitting there on the bottom, after cooking, kinda boring looking. No seasoning was added to it. Besides seasonings, it needs is to be mixed before topping and baking....just an old chef here, enjoying your input.
You can use cream of chicken too!! We use curry, a little mayo, and lemon juice. Promise……it’s delicious! 5 star if you do the above!

Good bones but needed seasoning. I cooked my chicken in broth onion powder, garlic powder, lemon pepper and shredded. I used butter & crushed crackers for the topping. I cut the broccoli very fine, my son and I loved it.
