4 slices bacon

I made this salad to take to a potluck focusing on German food. It was a huge hit. The recipe was followed to the letter. Keeping it warm until dinner time was no problem. How did we live without crock pots.
I thought it was really great considering the few ingredients that make it.I used 1-1/2 tablespoons of sugar + 1 teaspoon instead of the 3 recommended in the video.I like freshly ground black pepper so I didn’t pay much attention to the 1/8 teaspoon which is nothing.When I make next time, I will not crisp the bacon.Once again, a great recipe!
Whoever said this is not authentic is wrong. There are no pickles in German Potato salad. This recipe is authentic. I use Yukon gold potatoes boiled in chicken stock or chicken boullion. I slice them thin. delicious stuff!
Other than doubling the recipe, I made this exactly as written. It is delicious and got rave reviews from family. Will make again & again. So much tastier than the couple of times I’ve had it at a restaurant. Thank you.
Good taste. Used Russet potatoes, cooked potatoes were somewhat mushy. I did not like the idea of cooking vinegar and sugar mixture in the bacon grease. Mixture did not stick to the potatoes.Avoided salt.Tried to make this salad healthier.Will try again.
I am making g this for 12 guess. So I x3 everything. Questions...3 onions med size seem to much? It is 2 cups. Extra bacon for garnish. How much bacon grease is too much??I have 1/2 cup. Don't want a greaseySalad.
