1 tablespoon butter
⅓ cup finely chopped onion
1 cup uncooked white rice
2 tablespoons raisins
1 ½ cups chicken broth
salt and pepper to taste
¼ cup sliced almonds
Instructions: Rice with Almonds and Raisins Recipes
Step 1: Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion, stirring, until tender. Stir in the rice, raisins, broth, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil.
Step 2: Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, or until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed. Stir in almonds before serving.
This is a really nice recipe; in addition to using golden raisins and toasted almonds, as suggested by others, I added a generous tablespoon of za'atar to the mixture before cooking. It turned out really well, and my kitchen smelled wonderful. And it had a glorious tahdig.

I have a similar recipe that calls for golden raisins. I made this recipe with regular raisins as directed & if I ever make this recipe again I will definitely use golden raisins. Take my word for it, this will taste so much better if you use golden raisins.
