1 cup cornstarch
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
10 cups water
2 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 drops yellow food coloring (Optional)

I made recipe on the 21th it tasted great! Followed exactly as wrote on ingredients & used some tips about putting in jars.My only big problem is I just realized I DID NOT put the lemon juice in it! I guess I had a brain fade. Will it still be good? Someone please let me know. I hate to waste 11 pints & 1 quart of it. Thank you so much
I substituted clear gel for the cornstarch and doubled the cinnamon and omitted the nutmeg ( personal preference) and it came out great. I make it every year.

I followed what natural sugar mentioned and simmered the sugar water and spices and added the cornstarch, additional water and lemon right before adding to the jars. I got 6 pints and 1 quart from this recipe and had enough leftover to make at least 1 more jar. Like some others, I never added the food coloring as I feel it's not needed.
I had same problem as another reviewer. I weighed out apples but only got 3 quarts. Also, although I've canned for years, the half inch space seems too little as filling oozed out on first batch so rescanned with new lids and less filling. This time it only oozed on one jar. Love the taste though
