Embark on a whimsical culinary journey with the Mad Hatter Salad, a playful and colorful dish inspired by the fantastical world of Alice in Wonderland. This salad features a mix of vibrant greens, such as arugula or spinach, adorned with an assortment of whimsical ingredients. Think cherry tomatoes transformed into miniature “teacups,” cucumber slices shaped like “hats,” and perhaps edible flowers or colorful bell peppers for an added touch of whimsy. The dressing, a zesty vinaigrette or a creamy citrus dressing, ties the elements together. The Mad Hatter Salad is not only a feast for the taste buds but also a visual delight, making it a delightful addition to themed parties or imaginative gatherings.
Step 1: Toss together coleslaw mix, broccoli, and green onions in a large bowl. Set aside.
Step 2: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Crumble ramen noodles into a bowl, and mix with almonds and sunflower seeds. Sprinkle ramen seasoning packets over top. Add to the skillet; cook and stir until noodles and nuts are toasted, about 8 minutes.
Step 3: Combine sugar, oil, vinegar, and soy sauce in a jar with a tight-fitting lid. Seal, and shake vigorously to blend.
Step 4: Just before serving, combine the slaw mixture with the nuts and noodles. Pour the dressing over all, and stir briefly to coat.
YUM! I did doctor it up a bit! I didn't use sunflower seeds or broccoli. Substituted with a can of mandarins and finely chopped cilantro! Out of this world! Used fresh 1/2 head of cabbage, and sliced baby carrots! Just used what I had in the pantry!
love this recipe!! It makes a ton so bring it to a big gathering!! Tastes great and so great on the asian burger on this site. A+++++
This is a really good recipe! Everyone loved! I added mandarin oranges as shown in the picture and used fresh broccoli.
Has been my go to family favorite for years. I use rice wine vinegar and sometimes honey in place of sugar. Other than that, I have made no changes over the years.
Loved it. Followed recipes as is. It was fabulous. I am making it again soon.
Pretty good. I added tahini and sesame oil to the dressing and sesame oil to the toasting Ramen. Pepitas, nuts and seeds added and dressed before serving. Didn't have broccoli. Like the idea of mandarin orange added.
Just delicious. I make it often. I add canned mandarin oranges.
Always a big hit
This was interesting! I did cut the butter in half but added a bit of EVOO. I also used a mix of broccoli slaw and power slaw ( Brussels, kohlrabi, carrot, red cabbage, kale) from local grocery. I did cut the sugar in half but added mandarin oranges ( 2-11oz cans in light syrup) and about 1/8 cup craisins because that's all I had. The topping was salty but the sweetness of the salad played well together. Definitely will do again. So many things can be added to compliment events! Thank you!!!
