Broccoli Cauliflower Salad is a crisp and vibrant medley of fresh vegetables, creating a delightful dish that balances flavors and textures. This recipe combines the cruciferous crunch of broccoli and cauliflower with the sweetness of dried fruits, the creaminess of dressing, and the savory notes of bacon or cheese.
Start by chopping fresh broccoli and cauliflower into bite-sized florets. These cruciferous vegetables bring a satisfying crunch and are rich in nutrients, making the salad both flavorful and nutritious.
For a sweet and chewy element, incorporate dried fruits like cranberries or raisins. The sweetness from the dried fruits adds a delightful contrast to the vegetables, creating a well-balanced flavor profile.
To add creaminess, prepare a dressing using a base of mayonnaise or Greek yogurt. A touch of honey or maple syrup can be included for sweetness, while a splash of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice provides a tangy kick.
For an extra layer of savory goodness, consider adding crispy bacon bits or crumbled feta or cheddar cheese. These ingredients contribute richness and depth to the salad, enhancing its overall appeal.
Optional extras such as sunflower seeds, chopped nuts, or red onions can be included for added texture and flavor. These additions bring a delightful crunch and a hint of sharpness to the salad.
Gently toss all the ingredients together in a large bowl, ensuring that the vegetables are evenly coated with the dressing. Allow the salad to chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving, allowing the flavors to meld.
Broccoli Cauliflower Salad is a versatile dish, perfect for picnics, barbecues, or as a refreshing side for any occasion. I didn't add bacon or eggs and it turned out great! I'd make sure that you stuff that cup with veggies or you're going to have extra dressing
Delicious. The whole family gave it 5 stars. Made this salad without bacon to make it vegetarian. Followed advice of some reviewers and only added half of the dressing but it was not enough for our taste so I added more. In total I’d say I put 3/4 of the dressing which more than enough. I also added some red onion and sunflower seeds per recommendations. Even more delicious. I couldn’t help myself and added pumpkin seeds too.
This is delicious!! I’ve made it a few times. Cut the dressing in half though or you will have about 2 cups left!! Way too much. I also don’t add all the sugar because it’s too sweet. I add about 1/3 of the sugar. I add sunflower seeds to it also.
I made this last night but I added green onions and tomato and only made about half of the dressing. It was delicious and this morning, after being in the fridge overnight, it was wonderful!
I didn’t have wine vinegar so I used an old opened Bottle of white wine and it did just fine. I’ve been making this salad since it was discovered while vacationing in NC, when I was looking for something to make with the ingredients I had on hand. My husband and I loved it so much that it has become a staple in our home. What a great find!
Not what I was expecting needed so!etching else.
I did it! I added peas and mushrooms, also I did the dressing with Mayo-chipotle for an extra spicy. So ñumi!
I have made this twice now and it's delicious. I don't eat eggs so I left those out and I was out of onions. After making it the first time, I felt like it was missing something... my husband suggested diced dill pickles and that did the trick! A great way to use up extra veggies and it gets better each time. I did wait until serving to add the salted sunflower seeds, they topped it off perfectly.
Best Broccoli Salad Ever!! The dressing is to die for! Firstly, I was so happy to find a Broccoli Salad recipe that doesn't have onions in it because I am not a fan. I always double the broccoli and cauliflower which makes the amount of dressing perfect. Do not skip the eggs if you can help it. Definitely add sunflower seeds as other reviewers suggest, it adds a great crunch. And lastly, make sure you wait to add the dressing, topped with bacon and sunflower seeds, right before serving. SO GOOD!
