This became the basis of the dish I cooked. I substituted brussel sprouts for the cabbage and a mild salsa (4 TBS) instead of diced tomatoes. I did add tomatoe juice, garlic, some sliced mushroom, and a small amount of shredded carrot.
Liked it very much. I used Rotels Tomatoes and Green Chilies so it was quite spicy. Very good.
Made this and it is easy peasy. I too tweaked it a bit as I used ground turkey (dark meat), a jar of salsa along with a can of tomatoes, and a package of purple and green cabbage. I also added smoked paprika, garlic powder and fresh dill for more seasoning. I like the idea of adding sausage maybe I will try that next time!
I cooked the meat with onions and spices before adding to the cabbage and tomatoes. Used 2 cans of diced tomatoes. Next time will add sausage. Served it with garlic bread and sprinkled some Parmesan cheese on it. Great recipe.
Okay made it last night and it was good. However I needed to tweak it because it seemed that it would be a bland dish. Spices were garlic, thyme, basil, dill, oregano plenty of salt. Used 2 cans of tomatoes and added few spashes of apple cider vinegar and also some sugar to tame the tomatoe acidity. Also added some butter to increase it's richness when cooking the cabbage. I also cooked the hamburger seperately with one large shallot. It turned out very tasty...with a sweet/sour flavor.
Fantastic recipe. So easy to make, tastes great and is healthful. This is a great way to get cabbage in your diet.
Ohhhh YUM! I used purple cabbage because that's all I had. This recipe is amazing and so easy! I used some Mrs. Dash, pepper, and garlic salt in it. I'm absolutely making more of this! So easy and inexpensive!!!
Wonderful meal. Thank you for sharing it. I did add some seasoning as I cooked because of the reviews, I had a ‘hamburger seasoning’ handy. Hubby added spiracha. Great and great. I’m looking forward to cooking it for my parents.
To the recipe I took some of the suggestions and added hot Italian sausage and a couple garlic cloves and fresh tomatoes. I also added a tiny bit of tomato chicken bouillon. Will definitely be making It again!
