Embrace the delight of Easy Apple Strudel, a classic pastry that combines the sweetness of apples with the flakiness of thin, buttery layers. Start by selecting crisp and slightly tart apples, such as Granny Smith or Braeburn, peeling and thinly slicing them for a delectable filling.
Create the strudel dough by mixing flour, water, and a touch of oil, resulting in a pliable and elastic dough. Roll the dough into a thin sheet, stretching it gently until it becomes almost translucent. Brush the dough with melted butter, providing a rich and flavorful base for the apple filling.
Spread a mixture of apples, sugar, cinnamon, and perhaps some raisins or nuts over the dough. Carefully roll the strudel, enclosing the filling within the layers of dough. Place the strudel on a baking sheet, brush it with more butter for a golden finish, and bake until it becomes beautifully crisp and golden.
Once out of the oven, let the Easy Apple Strudel cool slightly before slicing into it. The result is a pastry masterpiece—each slice reveals thin layers of flaky dough embracing the tender, spiced apples within.
Serve the Easy Apple Strudel dusted with powdered sugar for a touch of sweetness. Pair it with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat that elevates the classic flavors of apples and pastry.
Perfect for brunch, dessert, or as a sweet addition to afternoon tea, Easy Apple Strudel captures the essence of European pastry-making in a simple and approachable recipe that delights the senses with every bite.

2 medium Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced

3/4 cup golden raisins
2 tablespoons all purpose flour, plus more for dusting

1 large egg
1 tablespoon whole milk
Instructions: Easy Apple Strudel Recipes
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Place shredded and chopped apples in a large bowl. Stir in brown sugar, golden raisins, flour, and salt; set aside.
Step 3: Working with one sheet at a time, place puff pastry on a lightly floured work surface. Roll lightly with a rolling pin into an approximately 10- x 12-inch rectangle. Arrange 1/2 of the apple filling (about 3 cups) down one side of pastry lengthwise.
Step 4: Fold pastry lengthwise over apple mixture; dampen edges of pastry with water, then press or crimp edges to seal. Repeat process with 2nd pastry sheet and remaining apple mixture.
Step 5: Transfer to prepared baking sheet, leaving at least 2-inches between each pastry. Whisk egg and milk together in a small bowl; brush on top of each pastry. Cut 3 or 4 slits on top of each pastry to allow steam to escape.
Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 30 to 35 minutes.
Way too much mixture. However, you can freeze it for more strudel action. Delicious
Based on previous reviews, I made a few modifications... I used three apples, one shredded and two sliced. pressed them out on a towel to try to dry them some. I used a little less than 3/4 cup brown sugar. I used craisins instead of raisins. And I added some cinnamon and nutmeg. The mixture actually made enough for two strudels. I didn't want to overload and make it soggy. Time was about 35 minutes. Easy and yummy!
Oh my yummy-ness! Like many others said, I had extra apples left over. We live in the mountains and didn’t need to cook ours as long. Will make this every fall!
Made this today - turned out really well. I used Gala apples instead of Granny Smith and cut the sugar in half. Also threw in a handful of sliced almonds. It was nicely golden brown after 30 minutes.
I used Phyllo Pastry and it turned out Awesome. It was so easy to make. I was second guessing myself on this. But I will be making this from now on.Thank you all for the help.
This is my husbands absolute favorite. It's his "special" birthday dessert... but I make it sugar free by using swerve. I also cook it on the stove top for a while until the apples are softer then add them to the pastry. Really tasty!
It was delicious. I added a little nutmeg & Cinnamon
