My wife suggested it would go good on top of a steak, pork chop. I tend to agreed.PS: NOTE, after reading silimar recipes it seems that the required broth should be 4 to 5 cups vs. 1 1/2 cups as listed on this recipe.
I changed the measurements to my liking and for a larger amount also added a few cloves of garlic chopped up. Skipped on the sherry too and it was fantastic.
This is my go to recipe and I make it several times a year. I pretty much follow the recipe as it's written except I prefer to sauté the onions and mushrooms in the butter before adding the thyme and chicken broth. I also puree the mushroom mixture in the pot with an immersion blender, just to save on some extra washing up. Excellent recipe. Perfect flavour.

I loved it and will do it again,but definitely didn't follow measurements -- used them as a rough guide. I used almost a big box of button mushrooms and lots of fresh thyme. Idk if i doubled but figured i could change as i go. I added more of everythingbut sherry. I used two pots, cooking mushrooms and onions and thyme in one smaller pot and blending in it, then transferred to bigger one after cooking the flour in butter. I dislike transfer to food processor when I can do it easily and safely with hand blender.
