A Cheese Omelette is a timeless breakfast classic loved by many for its simplicity and deliciousness. This recipe brings together the creamy and melty goodness of cheese with fluffy, perfectly cooked eggs to create a satisfying and comforting meal that can be enjoyed at any time of day.
To prepare a Cheese Omelette, you’ll start with the basic ingredients: eggs, cheese, butter or oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Eggs are beaten until they’re well combined, and the addition of salt and pepper adds a touch of seasoning to enhance the overall flavor.
Next, a non-stick skillet is heated over medium-low heat, and a small amount of butter or oil is added to prevent sticking. Once the butter is melted and hot, the beaten eggs are poured into the pan. At this point, you can add your choice of cheese. Common choices include cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, or even a combination of cheeses for a more complex flavor profile.
As the eggs begin to cook, they are gently pushed towards the center of the pan with a spatula, allowing the uncooked eggs to flow to the edges. This technique creates layers of soft, creamy egg and cheesy goodness. Once the eggs are mostly set but still slightly runny on top, the omelette is carefully folded in half to encase the melted cheese.
The result is a Cheese Omelette with a golden-brown exterior and a gooey, cheesy interior. It’s a simple yet indulgent dish that can be customized with additional ingredients such as diced vegetables, herbs, or cooked bacon or ham for extra flavor and texture.
Cheese Omelettes are incredibly versatile and can be enjoyed on their own, with a side of toast, or even as a filling for breakfast sandwiches or burritos. Whether you prefer it plain or loaded with extras, a Cheese Omelette is a delightful breakfast treat that’s quick and easy to make, making it a staple in many households.

I made it with singles cheese slices that I shred. Best tasting omelette I've had in a long time
I followed the instructions and cooked over low heat, using butter, it was delicious.
Will make again
We did not make it with emmataler cheese we will try it again
This is a very good and very easy omelette to make. The only change I made was to use cheddar cheese instead but this would be delicious with pretty much any kind of cheese.
i will totes make it again
I like butter but this was just too much. I used black pepper instead of white and that is the only change I made. Hubs loved this cheese with egg. What I think would make this even better is to add some sliced mushrooms and baby spinach. Good recipe but I recommend cutting the butter in half. As written this was very oily.
To make a perfect Cheese Omelette, start by whisking eggs in a bowl and seasoning with salt and pepper. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add butter or oil, and pour in the beaten eggs. As the eggs start to set, add your choice of grated cheese (like cheddar or Swiss) and any desired fillings (e.g., diced veggies, ham, or herbs) on one side. Fold the omelette in half and cook until the cheese melts and the eggs are fully set. Slide it onto a plate and enjoy your fluffy and cheesy omelette!
